Abstract

Abstract: Purpose. The study aims to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations of strategic management of enterprise economic and environmental security and to determine its impact on the formation of competitive advantages under modern economic conditions. The primary objective is to develop a conceptual approach to integrating environmental and economic security aspects into the enterprise’s strategic management system. Methods. To achieve the research objective, a set of scientific methods was applied: a systems approach to consider economic and environmental security as an integral system of interrelated elements; structural-functional analysis to explore the mechanisms of competitiveness formation through the lens of environmental security; comparative analysis to assess different approaches to managing economic and environmental security; generalization and synthesis methods to derive theoretical conclusions and practical recommendations. Results. The essence and structural components of enterprise economic and environmental security are defined as an integrated system for protecting economic interests and ensuring ecological stability. The relationship between the level of economic and environmental security and enterprise competitiveness is substantiated. A conceptual model of strategic management of economic and environmental security is developed, which includes a system of evaluation indicators, risk management mechanisms, and tools for enhancing competitiveness. It is established that strategic management of economic and environmental security fosters sustainable competitive advantages through resource optimization, reduction of environmental risks, and improvement of corporate reputation. Conclusions. The study confirms the hypothesis that strategic management of economic and environmental security is a crucial factor in enhancing enterprise competitiveness in the long term. The implementation of an economic and environmental security management system enables enterprises not only to minimize risks but also to create new opportunities for development through innovative green technologies and responsible business practices.
