Abstract

Abstract: The article examines the impact of global transformations on the current development of Ukraine’s financial system, particularly the interplay between long-term trends of digitalization, financial integration and European integration, and the shocks of the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war. The study emphasizes the complexity of the environment in which financial markets, the banking sector and the budget system operate. Purpose. To analyze the key trends and risks of the transformation of Ukraine’s financial system and to identify directions for its adaptation under global and domestic challenges. Methods. Systemic and comparative analysis, synthesis of scientific sources, and assessment of the impact of external shocks and institutional changes on the state’s financial subsystems were applied. Results. It was established that the war created unprecedented pressure on public finances, increasing dependence on external assistance and intensifying risks for the banking sector. At the same time, digitalization and the European integration course provided momentum for the modernization of financial infrastructure, regulatory harmonization and the development of capital markets. The study identified the key directions for strengthening the resilience of the financial system: deeper EU integration, digital transformation, strengthening budgetary and debt sustainability, reforming capital markets and supporting SMEs. Conclusions. Ukraine’s financial system demonstrates significant adaptability to global transformations, yet remains vulnerable to wartime and structural risks. Its medium-term resilience will depend on the effectiveness of reforms, the strengthening of institutional capacity, the diversification of financing channels for reconstruction, and further implementation of European standards. The combination of external support and internal transformations creates an opportunity to form a modern and competitive financial system.
