Analytical approaches to planning the activities of a healthcare facility

Abstract

Abstract: Purpose. The purpose of writing the article is to theoretically generalize scientific and applied principles regarding the analytical support of planning activities of a healthcare institution and the formation of analytical tools for ensuring effective planning activities of a medical institution. Methods. Within the framework of the study, the following methodological tools were used: the monographic method (in interpreting the essence of planning the activities of a healthcare institution); analysis (in examining trends in the planning activities of the municipal non-commercial enterprise Shumsk City Hospital, in identifying planning benchmarks for the medical institution’s operations, and in analyzing the main analytical approaches to healthcare institution planning); synthesis (in formulating integrated planning tasks for the medical institution under wartime conditions); and graphical methods (for visual presentation of the obtained research results). Results. The authors have summarized theoretical approaches to interpreting the essence of planning the activities of a healthcare institution. They have formulated integrated tasks for planning the activities of a medical institution in wartime. They have emphasized that in modern conditions, planning the activities of a healthcare institution requires proper analytical support. The main trends in the field of planning the activities of a healthcare institution in conditions of war and medical reform are analyzed using the example of the municipal non-profit enterprise "Shumsk City Hospital". The main analytical approaches to planning the activities of a healthcare institution are described and the directions for integrating analytical approaches into the planning system of a medical institution are outlined. Conclusions. Effective planning in healthcare is impossible without a comprehensive analytical approach based on reliable data, scenario modeling, and the assessment of the economic feasibility of management decisions.
