Abstract

In this article, the authors analyze the current state of the tourism business in the territorial communities of Khmelnytskyi region, in particular, their natural, historical, cultural and economic resources. The main indicators of the tourism industry in the region are studied, including the dynamics of the number of people staying in collective accommodation facilities by region, the share of Khmelnytskyi region in Ukraine (by the number of people staying in collective accommodation facilities), the number of people served in collective accommodation facilities by foreigners and residents of Ukraine in Khmelnytskyi region, and the number of bed days in Khmelnytskyi region. The study includes an overview of key tourism destinations in the region. Special attention is paid to the socio-economic importance of the rural tourism business. A comparison of tourism indicators of Khmelnytskyi region with other regions of Ukraine was made, which allowed to use the competitive advantages and disadvantages of the region. The results of the study show that the main obstacles to the development of tourism business in Khmelnytskyi communities are insufficient funding, lack of qualified personnel, poor transport infrastructure and insufficient promotion of tourism opportunities. At the same time, communities have significant potential for growth through the integration of modern digital technologies. Based on the collected data, the main problems that contribute to the development of the tourism business in the territorial communities of Khmelnytskyi region are identified. The results of the study may be useful for local governments, entrepreneurs and researchers seeking to promote the sustainable development of the tourism business in Khmelnytskyi region. In the context of decentralization, territorial communities have every opportunity to become active participants in the development of this promising industry, which will increase their economic efficiency and improve the quality of life of the local population. At the same time, the factors that can contribute to the growth of the industry are identified, including improving community infrastructure, attracting investment, creating quality tourism products, and cooperation between communities, local governments, and businesses.
