Abstract

The fast growth of the digital economy requires IT firms to steadily enhance and adjust business procedures to new technological and market circumstances. Simultaneously, the absence of universal methods for evaluating the adaptability of business processes makes it harder to implement sound management choices and necessitates the creation of suitable methodological instruments. Special emphasis is placed on pinpointing the main elements that influence the capacity of business processes to react swiftly to technological shifts, market hurdles, and the demands of digital transformation.

Purpose. The aim of this study is to underpin and devise a framework of criteria and indicators for evaluating the adaptability of IT firms' business operations to the digital economy's environment.

Methods. The research methods include systematic and comparative analysis to study approaches to assessing the adaptability of business processes, as well as generalisation and synthesis to form criteria and indicators. Additionally, the method of expert opinions, the method of integral assessment and elements of statistical analysis were employed to determine the level of adaptability of IT companies and verify the practical suitability of the proposed model.

Results. The article explores the theoretical foundations of business process adaptability and summarises scientific approaches to interpreting the concepts. The features of the functioning of IT companies in the digital economy are determined and modern trends in business digitalisation are analysed. The external and internal influences on the adaptability of IT firms' business operations have been identified and organised. It is demonstrated that the degree of adaptability arises from the intricate interplay of these factors. A broad system of benchmarks for evaluating the adaptability of IT companies' business processes has been justified, encompassing organisational, technological, procedural, personnel, and innovation aspects. A framework of numerical and descriptive metrics for assessing adaptability has been created, facilitating a thorough analysis of business operations' preparedness for digital shifts.

Conclusions. The suggested framework of criteria and indicators offers leaders and managers the chance to objectively assess the readiness level of business operations for digital shifts. The outcomes achieved can be employed for strategic charting of digital transformation, streamlining business operations, enhancing the competitive edge of businesses, and guaranteeing their robustness against external environmental shifts.
