Abstract

The article considers the category of standard of living as a complex socio-economic indicator covering various aspects of the well-being of the population, including working conditions, housing, education, health and the ecological environment. The problem statement shows that there is no single universal definition of the standard of living, which makes it difficult to compare between different countries and historical periods. The relevance of the topic is due to the need to improve the methodological tools for assessing the standard of living, including both quantitative and qualitative aspects. The purpose of the work is to study the role of the state financial system in shaping the quality of life of the population, based on an analysis of the impact of key financial and economic mechanisms, such as the distribution of budget resources, monetary policy, tax and investment incentives, as well as to improve methodological tools for assessing socio-economic well-being in the context of the transformation of the financial environment of Ukraine. The state financial system is a determining factor in shaping the quality of life of the population of Ukraine, forming a complex network of interconnected economic mechanisms of influence on social well-being. The efficiency of budget allocation directly affects the level of social guarantees, the availability of medical, educational and other public services. The monetary policy of the state creates the basic conditions for the life of the population through the mechanisms of money circulation, control of inflationary processes and currency regulation. The purchasing power of citizens, the ability to accumulate and invest personal funds depend on its balance.

Systemic transformation of the financial environment requires a comprehensive approach to ensuring economic stability, creating a favorable investment climate and establishing transparent taxation mechanisms. These factors determine the potential for socio-economic development and the quality of life of the population.

The methodological basis of the study is a comprehensive approach that includes the use of both simple and integrated indicators of the standard of living. The importance of indices such as the Human Development Index (HDI), which combines indicators of health, education and economic well-being, as well as the Gender Inequality Index and other international ratings have been determined. As a result of the study, it was determined that in order to achieve sustainable development, it is important to take into account socio-economic inequality, which has a significant impact on living standards. The problems of post-war and post-pandemic reconstruction of the Ukrainian economy are highlighted separately, in particular the need for investment in the reconstruction of infrastructure, housing and social facilities.

The study emphasizes the importance of integrating economic and social aspects to create effective development strategies aimed at improving the living standards of the population. It suggests that increasing people's ability to influence their future, reducing political polarisation and creating a global architecture of public goods are key directions for addressing modern challenges.
