Abstract

Abstract: The article examines the problem of integrating the process approach into modern operations management of an enterprise under conditions of increasing business environment complexity, digital transformation, and growing requirements for operational performance. It is substantiated that the traditional functional model of operations management increasingly leads to fragmentation of responsibility, local optimization, and a gap between strategic objectives and the actual execution of operational processes. In this context, the process approach is considered not merely as a regulatory or methodological tool, but as an integrative mechanism capable of ensuring end-to-end manageability of value creation flows and coherence of managerial decisions. Based on an analysis of recent scientific studies in operations management, business process management (BPM), digital transformation, and process mining, the key directions of convergence between process-oriented and operational management logic are identified. It is demonstrated that the implementation of the process approach without its incorporation into the daily managerial cycle of operations management (planning – execution – control – improvement) significantly limits the practical effectiveness of process initiatives. Particular attention is paid to the issues of operationalizing integration, delineating roles and responsibilities between the operations manager and the process owner, and ensuring operational stability during process changes. The study identifies previously unresolved aspects of the general problem, including the lack of a comprehensive integration model that links operational strategy, process architecture, and a system of end-to-end performance indicators. It is argued that effective integration of the process approach into operations management constitutes a prerequisite for enhancing operational controllability, achieving sustainable improvement of key operational performance indicators, and increasing the adaptability of enterprises to changes in the external environment.
