Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyse current global trends in the development of digital technologies, identify their key directions, characteristics and impact on the transformation of economic processes on a global scale. Methods of bibliometric analysis, systematic and comparative analysis, generalisation and scientific interpretation of analytical materials from leading international organisations and consulting companies were used. The information base consisted of reports from the Digital Cooperation Organisation, McKinsey & Company, Gartner and other industry forecasts. A trend analysis approach was used, which made it possible to identify the key areas of digital transformation and assess their socio-economic impact. Results. A bibliometric analysis based on data from the Scopus scientometric database showed an increase in scientists' interest in digital technologies. The study found that the development of digital technologies is complex and multidimensional, covering key areas such as artificial intelligence and generative AI, cloud and edge computing, next-generation networks (5G/6G), the Internet of Things, big data analytics, automation, and robotics. It has been proven that digital transformation goes beyond technological change and is accompanied by the transformation of business models, the labour market, management systems and public policy. It has been determined that the key factors for successful digitalisation are the development of infrastructure, digital skills, the regulatory environment, innovation and mechanisms for ensuring trust and cybersecurity. The growing importance of the environmental sustainability of digital development in connection with the increase in energy consumption in the ICT sector is highlighted separately. Conclusions. It is concluded that digital technologies are becoming a determining factor in long-term economic growth and competitiveness. Their effective implementation requires a systematic approach that combines technological innovation, human capital development, institutional reform and international coordination to create a secure, inclusive and sustainable digital economy.
