Abstract

The development of e-commerce leads to significant changes in the functioning of production systems and packaging processes, as these elements increasingly determine the speed, flexibility, and reliability of online order fulfillment. In modern conditions, the digitalization of production and packaging is acquiring a systemic nature, forming a new model of interaction between production, logistics, and digital sales channels. At the same time, in practice, digital solutions are often implemented fragmentarily, without proper integration between individual processes, which limits the potential of e-commerce and reduces the operational efficiency of enterprises. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the role of digitalization of production and packaging processes in the context of e-commerce development and to identify key directions of their transformation, taking into account the requirements of the digital market. The object of the study is the production and packaging processes in the digital economy, and the subject is the mechanisms, tools, and results of their digitalization in the context of e-commerce development. The methodological basis of the study combines general scientific methods. Analysis and synthesis were used to generalize scientific approaches to the digitalization of production and packaging processes and to identify their key characteristics. The systemic approach made it possible to consider production and packaging as interrelated elements of a single digital value creation chain. Comparative analysis was applied to compare traditional and digitalized models of organizing these processes, while logical-structural analysis was used to form generalized conclusions. The study summarizes scientific approaches to the digitalization of production and packaging, identifies key digital technologies relevant to e-commerce, and analyzes changing product packaging requirements in the online market. It is concluded that comprehensive digitalization of production and packaging processes is a necessary condition for increasing enterprise adaptability. Practical recommendations include implementing integrated digital solutions that combine production planning, packaging automation, and digital order management systems.
